I have 2 children, who are now young adults and fending for themselves. In my spare time I am busy being the Ilminster area poppy appeal organiser for the royal British legion and am one of the guardians for the Ilminster defibrillator appeal.
I’m the deputy manager here at Hazelwell Lodge, and support Claire in managing the home. I have worked at Hazelwell for almost 20 years. I have always worked in adult social care; I started off my career as a domestic assistant and working my way into the deputy manager role.
I have a passion for the work I do and enjoy spending time with the residents and take pride in in my work ensuring their needs are met accordingly by maintaining their self-worth and providing individuals with a good quality of life.
In my spare time I enjoy watching films, especially comedy and action. As well as listening to music. I also play skittles in the Ilminster women’s league.
I took my post as Head of care 4yrs ago. Previous to this I worked as a night shift leader for 2yrs. My care career began in a nursing home where I worked for 14yrs. I then changed my career path and my Husband, and I bought a public house. After 17yrs working with the public we sold up. I tried something different and worked with children in care for a short while before I took my post here at Hazelwell. I enjoy the challenges this role brings where no two days are the same.
I have 2 Children and 2 grandchildren whom I love spending time with, my house is a busy household as we also foster, which again brings different challenges. In my spare time I play darts in a local league and enjoy a few drinks whilst trying to hit the dart board 😉
